Accepting multiple home offers in Pennsylvania

As a home seller in Pennsylvania, it can be enticing to accept multiple home offers, especially if many buyers want to purchase your home. However, this may not be a good idea. Learn more from a licensed PA real estate agent (not a lawyer) as I break down this question in this Q&A.

Here’s what you’ll learn from this video:

  • What it can mean to accept an offer
  • Who are the people you should have in your toolbox when selling
  • What to think about when you’re presented with multiple home offers

MULTIPLE HOME OFFERS

As a home seller in Pennsylvania, it can be really exciting when you have multiple offers and many buyers excited to purchase your home. But are you allowed to accept more than one offer, especially if you’re afraid one might fall through?

ACCEPTING AN OFFER

An offer acceptance occurs when both parties, seller and buyer have a signed written contract and typically put down earnest money deposit to show seriousness. Once you sign that contract, it is binding. In other words, once you commit to an offer, you’re contractually obligated to carry out the terms of that contract. There may be ways to get out of that contract but you don’t want to be signing multiple contracts which can get you into trouble.

 TALK TO REAL ESTATE PROS

This can definitely be a tricky scenario, so this is where it makes sense to be working with a real estate professional or even a real estate lawyer. Did that make sense? Take a look at this article  on multiple offer scenarios. Drop me a comment below if you have other questions or to share your experience as a seller.
